The list of things that inexperienced sailors struggle with most in their first weeks in the ocean:

– Sea sickness.
– Finding the sleeping position which prevents you from bruising everywhere and hopping or rolling over with every wave.
– Eating anything other than cornflakes. Believe me, cornflakes is the best sea sickness food.
– The ropes all look the same at night.
– Shower every three days. Or every four days.
– Sea sickness.
– When the sails are fluttering and you’re not sure what’s happening.
– When you look at the horizon, see a tornado and aren’t sure if it’s coming your way.
– Cooking and fighting gravity at the same time.
– Showering while the bathroom is doing the boogie.
– Having auto pilot shut down during night shift.
– Sea sickness.
